Impact of Stress
Being happy has been proven to have positive long-term effects not just on one’s well being but also on one’s over all health and life span.
In my practice I witness the impact of STRESS and the toll it takes on the body, the mind and one’s emotional well being and happiness. The brain/mind and body are tightly interconnected and when one is taxed so is the other. Good stress, bad stress, over exposure to either can have detrimental effects on one’s system, health, relationships and overall quality of life.
Here is one simple thing we can all do to help manage stress and increase our daily dose of happiness:
TAKE A TIME OUT! 5 minutes in the middle of your day to simply be still. No phone (that means texting too), no computer, no gadgets. You don’t have to clear your mind or stop your thoughts. You do need to BREATHE and simply take in the moment. If this makes you uncomfortable, start with 2 minutes and work your way to 5 over the course of a week. This does require discipline. Discipline to put yourself first for at least 5 minutes a day. In the scheme of 24 hours, not too much of a sacrifice 🙂
